Why Writing is Like a Relationship

a-z blog

When an opportunity knocks on the door of a relationship, it isn’t always a good thing. With writing, it’s especially hard to see these traps.

You work so hard to get any kind of positive and meaningful validation with your work and suddenly, there it is. It’s easy to get swept up in the moment.

But you need to step back and think – really look at the offer before you. What are you giving up to sign this contract?  What’s your end of the deal if you take on this project? Not just the due date, but the other expenses in terms of time, money and product expectations.

Any opportunity is a risk, whether you stepped into it by accident or chased it like a hungry wolf after a rabbit. But jumping on an opportunity without thinking about it, no matter how tempting it is, can mean a lot of heart-ache in the long run.

Check out what other folks chose to blog about today. A to Z Blogging Challenge.

Good advice, by the way I noticed your challenge graphic says for Tina but others don’t. What’s the story behind that?

The graphic came from the A-Z challenge site, so I assume:
A: Tina is one of the original crew who started the A-Z Challenge
B: something has happened to Tina

Sadly, I am also easily frustrated and very lazy. I didn’t want to capture and load 27 graphics, one for each day of the challenge, so I just kept with the overall badge.

Interesting, and I don’t blame you for not coming up with 27 graphics.

Tina Downey was one of the bloggers that started the A-Z challenge. She passed away last August. http://kmdlifeisgood.blogspot.com/
