As a writer, do you have favorite themes that you like to explore in your stories? If so, what are they?

Oh, honey. Themes are for people who plan.
I generally don’t have a plan. I have a concept, built around a scene or a phrase or something else of equal irrelevance, and then I build outwards from that. How did we get here? Where should we go next? How can I make this worse? Does that make logical sense?
I am not ranting against those who plot their stories. I have read more than one article and book on the different ways folks do this. I long to be this person.
The brain does not brain that way, though. I have tried to train it to do that, but the brain has resisted that whole “plotting” thing since I was first introduced to it in middle school.
Which is one of the reasons I picked the name SquarePeg Books.
