July 2026 Word: Novalunosis

I cannot promise how, where or when these words were used, if ever. I simply find them delightful, and want to share.

NOVALUNOSIS

The state of relaxation and wonderment while gazing at the stars.

It can be a very intense experience as well. When I’ve gone camping, and of course there is the mandatory 2am potty break, it’s very cold in the mountains. Which is a shock to the system. It was 100 degrees F in this shade at noon, but 14 hours later it’s literally freezing at 30F.

Which also usually means the sky is VERY clear. Very cold means very clear skies up here.

Trudging back to the tent you look up, and WHAM! The night sky punches you in the face in a way it can’t do in the city.

You stop. You have to stop.

Is the sky always like that?

Sometimes you grab a chair and just sit for a few minutes, shivering in your coat, but just drinking in the sheer WOW.
