This month’s question is:
What would make you quit writing?
This is actually a problem I deal with most of the time right now. So much so that I’d rather not answer it, because every time I’ve tried, I’ve only gotten angry, and plotted for a time when I am no longer required to stay in the position I’m in now.
So let’s jump to a different question from my own fuzzy little brain:
Where do you look for inspiration?
Not writing inspiration, per se. But inspiration generally, though I suppose we could count writing inspiration as part of that question.
Does making a list inspire you to “get it done?”
Is music more your thing? Can you achieve anything so long as you’re listening to the right tunes?
Are you more of a collector of motivational quotes?
Do you half listen to a documentary and suddenly a little nugget of an idea that’s left of center of what the narrator was talking about popped into your head. “Wouldn’t it be interesting if…”
Does jealousy inspire you? “My daughter’s friend’s mom Jean-Anne keeps humble-bragging about everything she’s done lately. I’ll show her…”
Perhaps the tinny bits of shockingly deep, yet basic, wisdom seen in cartoons is a source of inspiration for you? Such as Voltron’s “Be Great” monologue, or even Rick and Morty’s” Get your shit together” rant.
