IWSG September 2020

So, this time of year is usually when I try to roll out some School Year Resolutions.

Things are a little up in the air, right now. Like many, I’ve been lurching from day to day like a sailor with a 3-day pass on a bar crawl, since about, oh… March-ish. Like everyone else. Not the best environment to write in, which is odd. Sometimes, during stressful periods, I can sit down and dash out a rough draft in a few weeks. But I guess sustained stress doesn’t work that way.

Bummer. I’d have my whole fantasy series done by now if that were the case.

Yet the outside world continues to turn and society continues on in whatever direction it’s going in today, generally without consideration of my input, so… yeah.

However, now we’ve added a dash of spice to the roller coaster! Yes! Now we have online schooling for middle schoolers with either too many parental apps to keep track of or not enough communication at all (depending on the teacher). Complete with several nervous breakdowns from the kids and myself, WiFi failures, room rearrangements, and general “What fresh hell is coming for me now?” thoughts when I hear either a chime or panicked feet running through the house looking for an adult.

And I may have been offered a part-time job. It’s not writing, or a tremendous amount of hours, but it’s a…job offer? Maybe. I have to drop on email on them and sort it out.

On the plus side I’ve finally gotten back to writing. Sort of. I’m editing previous manuscripts, one or two chapters a day, so not really doing anything new, just polishing the old.

But that still counts.

Right?

Hi, Katty! “Lurching from day to day” pretty much describes my life during this very stressful, long Time of Covid. My heart goes out to teachers, parents, and students as they try to figure out schooling this fall. Kudos to you for getting anything that counts done! May the panicked feet looking for an adult NOT turn into a stampede! Take care!
