Besides writing what other creative outlets do you have?
Oy. This is not going to be a paragraphy thing, but more listy. Some of these I’ve done for years, and others I’ve only started trying out. Some items I’m half-way decent at, others I don’t spend enough time or dedication on to turn out more than an amateurish product. The point is more to do something that isn’t writing – with my family the way it is, often my creative endeavors have to be something I can put down in a moment to be picked back up whenever. Writing doesn’t lend itself to that kind of schedule (not for lack of trying – it’s just some days the schedule isn’t as conducive to writing as it is for others).ย Another reason for the “creativity” is that some solutions are cheaper done by my own hands than paying someone else to do it.ย Sometimes I do these things because they need to be done, other times because I need to do something to unplug, something that works a different part of my brain than writing.
Archery (Traditional Horsebow (I shoot incorrectly, but I hit the target, so that counts, right?))
Costume Design and Construction

Jewelry Making
Knitting (learning)
Landscaping

Papercrafting (like turning paper into artsy things, not making paper – although I know how to do that as well)
Prop Design and Construction (small theatrical)
Quilting (Crazy-quilting)
Sculpture (clay)
Scrapbooking
Sewing
Spinning
Weaving
Woodworking
Woodburning
I’d like to pick up Aerial Silks work for a year or two, but I need to get my upper body strength up to handling that kind of work. The same with Roller Derby – I think it would help with my anger issues.
