Where Did the Year Go?

It was Halloween last week, I swear.

I’m still working on that whole “moving forward with goals” thing. The rough calendar right now is to publish something in May, but of course, money is a thing I’m working on, too.

The last 18 months have brought a number of changes.

The word for 2024 is “Progress.”

The idea is that a little progress every day is better than none at all. It’s just keeping to that little habit is where the challenge always is for me. I make the lists, I read the articles about how to make the day more productive, and then make the lists again.

I’m a list person. If I don’t start the day with a list already written out and staring at me when I sit at the table to consider the process of waking up, nothing will happen that day.

Well, laundry might happen. But that’s about it if I don’t already have a list made out the night before.

And that list has to stare at me from the table first thing in the morning. The bedside table doesn’t work. In the kitchen near the coffee maker doesn’t work. I literally do not see or think about the list if it isn’t on the table.

The list is very rarely completed on the daily, but the joy of crossing things off the list is almost measurable with the sensation of having social plans cancelled at the last minute.

Now, I just have to work consistent progress with the list.
