What inspires me to write these days?
I would say escapism, but every time I start to escape, something happens, requiring a rather hard turn-around with a dead-stick landing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. We all know the sob story, Katty.
Though, any landing you walk away from is a good one, right?
In every story, you are every character. You may not be the swiftest wit on the planet, but your readers don’t have to know it took you three weeks to set up the character conversation that allowed for a beautiful comeback. You may still be working on the fear of heights, but your character can overcome it in a burst of raw willpower.
You can explore so many aspects of yourself, your hopes and fears, in a safe place. If the story doesn’t go the way you want it to, you can always delete it and start over.
It’s probably best that we don’t have delete keys for real life.
