Why Writing is Like a Relationship
If you do not value your partner, your friend, your child, they will not stick around. They will not help you when you fall. They will not be there when you need them most.
Likewise, if you do not value your writing, it will not improve and it will not work for you.
Yes – writing does work for you at some point. It can be cathartic, it can be a source of income, it can be a quirky friend you just pal around with on occasion just because. It might not not be a huge money-maker, but if it’s meaningful, if you value it, writing can help you through some of the darker times.
It may not be able to by you a diamond big enough to signal passing aircraft with, but value isn’t just about the money.
